(THM E MEAL)- 30 Minute Chili

30 MINUTE CHILI

Ingredients-
3 Cans Black Beans, or throw in some canned Great Northern Beans
2 Cans Diced Tomatoes
1 Can Tomato Sauce
About 15 oz. Organic Chicken Broth (0 Fat)
1.5-2 lb. Very Lean Ground Turkey (when I say lean, I mean 97% Fat Free) In a big hurry? Use 3-4 cans of cooked chicken breast instead!! It's so good!
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
1 TBSP Garlic Powder
1 TBSP Onion Powder
2 tsp. Cumin
1-2 tsp. Chili Powder
One shake Truvia (if you like a hint of sweet to balance out the tangy tomato)

Directions-
Brown the turkey on Med/High, in skillet, stirring and breaking it apart. If you are using the faster method, with canned chicken breast, just go ahead and open all cans and put it all right into a large sauce pan together~ Add 3 cans of black beans, but drain and rinse two of them. Add the other cans of ingredients, and broth, then season as desired. Turn heat to Low/Med. and simmer for 30 minutes before serving.

Tastes like you worked all day on it!

  2. I'd also like to know a serving size and the approximate numbers of servings in this recipe.

Just made this earlier and it came out amazing! I did tweak it just a bit to suit our tastes & ingredient availability in the pantry.
Used dark red kidney beans, homemade chicken stock (minimal fat), 2.5 lbs of ground turkey (it came in 1.2 lb pkgs), 2 Tbsp of garlic powder, 1/4 diced fresh yellow onion, 1 tsp Chili powder and ADDED a small can of tomato paste and 2 cups of water. It tasted more like a tortilla soup when I taste tested so I wanted it to be a bit more watery. This WILL be made in our home again, no doubt about it. Even my picky teenaged son ate some and the husband and daughter each had a couple of bowls. I loved it but limited it to a small bowl (about 1.5-2 cups including sauce).

Thank you for sharing this recipe!

    2. I did follow the rest of the recipe (tomatoes, etc.). Oh yes, I forgot to say that I also added half of a large zucchini from the garden, diced, just before simmering.

  3. In answer to your question about portion size, I cannot say. The chili is quite satisfying and has a modest amount of carbs in it, considering it is chili with beans. I'll have to look a little closer at it, the next time that I make it. Thank you for stopping by, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

  4. Loved this! My whole family eats it, including a 3yr old and 5 yr old. Last time I added a little red wine and let it simmer longer to burn off the alcohol and it was AMAZING...Great recipe, thanks so much for sharing!
